What we’re about

This is a group for people who are interested in philosophy. We have discussed a wide variety of topics, like free will, God, veganism and political philosophy. This meetup is a great place to meet new people, who are interested in philosophical questions. We are looking forward to seeing you in our meet-ups!

If you would like to discuss a specific topic, here are some tips, how to propose a topic. Take a look at our previous event pages. For example: https://www.meetup.com/Helsinki-Philosophy-Meetup/events/281825410/

1. The topic should be philosophical. Here are some examples of philosophical topics: Do we have free will?, Does God exist?, Is slavery wrong?, Does all knowledge come from sense experience?
Here are some non-philosophical topics: What is the speed of light? Did I eat ice cream yesterday? What is the best computer programming language?
The relevant difference between a non-philosophical question and a philosophical question is that we could ask the experts and the question would be more or less settled in a non-philosophical question. Philosophical questions are not like that.

2. There should be an argument and you should present a case why we should accept the premises.
If you have a topic and an argument, send me a message and the floor is yours!
