Default Mode Network

Details
Let's talk about the Default Mode Network (DMN)!
Location: Oodi library, group room 7.
The default mode network (DMN) is a system of connected brain areas that is especially active when a person is daydreaming, contemplating the past or the future, or thinking about the perspective of another person.
The DNM tend to be more connected for the people prone to rumination, and lonely ones. The DNM plays a role in creativity, and is active during sleep.
The DNM is about self-focus and mental time-travel, and its inactivity appears to be related to varied forms of mental illness.
Relaxation techniques, mindfulness, meditation, and even deep breathing can calm down the DNM.
The following sources are mandatory to read before the discussion:

If you might find an extra source of information you would like to discuss on topic, please feel free to let the organizer know so we could all prepare for it in a better way.
Hope to meet you soon! :)

Primary purpose of the club is to learn psychology together. We target a high-quality discussion more than socializing with as many people as possible. It is very encouraged to stay on topic and provide a good argumentation.
Please get familiar with our club's constitution in "What is it about?" section in the Meetup group description.
