Introduction to Synthesizers for Beginners

Hi!
Do you want to learn how to use software synthesizer for your new song but don't know where to start?
I got you! This workshop is a perfect place to dive into audio synthesis basics!

For this workshop our topics are:

• Synthesizers in general and subtractive synthesis in particular
• Filters
• Envelope generators
• LFOs
• How many software and hardware synths share similar functionality but differ in User Interface

After this workshop you will know:

• How basic sound shaping works
• How to apply this knowledge to any other synthesizer

Things to bring:

• You can bring your laptop, but it's not necessary!

I will prepare a small presentation, then we'll go over the topics using my computer and then we can have some time to see which synthesizers you want to use and try to unpack their functionality.

I have reserved a meeting room in Oodi for this workshop, there is a set of basic speakers, that should be enough for this demonstration.
