The pick this week is “Lovell Canyon Trail” loop! Carpool from Henderson with Sydney (see comment below).

A moderate loop through the quieter side of the Spring Mountains with rolling singletrack, forest sections, and huge views of Griffith Peak almost the entire hike. This one feels more like a backcountry mountain trail than a typical Vegas desert hike.

We’ll start with a steady climb through rocky terrain and pinyon-juniper forest before reaching the loop section. From there the trail rolls along the canyon walls with constant views, shaded stretches, burned areas from old fire zones, and a few loose rocky sections on the descent. The terrain changes a lot throughout the hike, which keeps it fun the whole way.

This trail is usually less crowded, cooler than the valley, and has very little cell service, so plan accordingly.

Forecast: 63°F, 0% rain, 5 mph winds
Amount of water to bring: 2-3L

ALLTRAILS REPORT:

• Distance 5.5 mi
• Elevation Gain 885 ft
• Time 2.5–3 hr
