Hello fellow travelers!
It is time to go exploring once again. Please join Sheila as she shares photos and reflections of her trip to Quito and the Enchanted Galapagos Islands.
Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is a vibrant city nestled high in the Andes Mountains. It was founded in the 16th century on the ruins of an Incan city. It’s well preserved colonial Old Town, an UNESCO World Heritage site, is rich in historical architecture, churches and plazas.
I began my adventure with the Sierra Club going on a tour of Guayaquil and sweeping views of the famous port city.
The next day, we were on a flight to the Galapagos Islands! Our certified naturalist guide took us through unique lava created landscapes. We observed many wonderful types of wildlife that were easily approachable due to its isolation from many predators. Flightless cormorants, penguins, sea turtles and sea lions were some of the animals that were so entertaining to observe. We snorkeled and hiked during our visits by boat to many deserted islands.
Our Galapagos adventure and our new-found friends, departed with a greater appreciation for nature and conservation.
We will have coffee, tea and water. Feel free to bring your own beverage and snacks or snacks to share. Please sign up on this site so that you will receive a notification if something changes about the event.
