Buck Spring Trail; a Saunter

Details

We are the Sloth Hiking Group: “We will get there when we get there.”
John Muir didn’t like the word ‘hike’. “We ought to saunter through them reverently, not 'hike' through them.”
Note: We will split the group in two separate ones to make things more manageable. ;-) Dogs will be in the lead group.
I am going to Saunter along a portion of the Buck Spring Tr along the Pisgah Ridge near the BRPkwy. A bunch of you are welcome to join me.
Total Length: 4 mi (in & out) to Picnic Rock from Hwy 276 and back.
Accum ascent: 500 ft total gradual.
Pace: 1.5mph – because I’m an ol’ Codger.
DIFFICULTY: Moderate: rocky & dirt narrow trail. There may be unexpected challenges and obstacles. See description below.
Drive time: 20 min 1-way
Apprx return time: 2 pm
Carpool contributions appreciated. $2.00 suggested
Weather Check: Brevard, NC
Weather cancellations will be posted at 6:30am.
WAITLISTED PEOPLE WILL BE ADDED AS DRIVERS SIGN ON.
We suggest open windows while carpooling. Only you know your own health status so judge accordingly if an event may endanger your health or the health of others.
Please bring an extra pair of shoes to avoid bringing your muddy shoes into the driver's car at the end of the hike.
Incessant prattlers will be assumed to be having an affair. Obstreperous raucous yawping is discouraged.
THIS IS A DOG-PARTICIPANT HIKE. This event is NOT for those who are uncomfortable with the antics of fun-loving dogs. Well trained dogs (you don’t have to yell) can be 'off-leash'. 'On leash' during the lunch stop. Small (lap)dogs may carpool. Large dogs will drive themselves.
DESCRIPTION;
Remember - hikes led by ‘the Curmudgeon’ tend to have challenging surprises.
I will be carrying the ‘Ent-Ward’ that gives us permission to pass thru the forest.
A seasonal favorite; this is a very pleasant hike that weaves in and out of the various coves that lie along the southeast face of the mountain ridge that rises up above Pink Beds. 6 moderately challenging rock-hop creek Xings; rocky trail. I suggest extra socks & towels for any surprises on the creek Xings.
All hikes are at your own risk. You are responsible for your OWN safety and adequate equipment.
Waiver: There are certain risks inherent in any outdoor activity.
