Unravel at Merry & Xmas Falls

We are the Sloth Hiking Group: “We will get there when we get there.” We dare to go where the ‘real’ hike groups don’t !!
I am going to play at Merry & Xmas Falls in the DuPont area.; A few of you are welcome to join me.
READ THE DESCRIPTION BELOW CAREFULLY.
Length: knee-deep wet 1/4 mile.; accum ascent: 125 ft
Difficulty: a fun but challenging trek. We will be wading up a flat bottom stream, climbing a stairstep waterfall and more stream wading. RE: Description below.
Pace: 1.5mph – because I’m an ol’ Codger.
Drive time: ½ hr/ 20 mi 1-way
Alt meeting: DuPont/Corn Mill Shoals access: 10:30am
Apprx return time: 2 pm
Carpool contributions appreciated. $2.00 suggested
Weather Check: Cedar Mountain, NC
Weather cancellations will be posted at 6:30am.

We suggest open windows while carpooling. Only you know your own health status so judge accordingly if an event may endanger your health or the health of others.
Please bring an extra pair of shoes to avoid bringing your muddy shoes into the driver's car at the end of the hike.
Incessant prattlers will be assumed to be having an affair. Obstreperous raucous yawping is discouraged.
This is NOT a dog-participant hike.
DESCRIPTION;
Remember - hikes led by ‘the Curmudgeon’ tend to have challenging surprises.
Requires a 1/4 mile walk in a calf-deep sand/rock bottom stream with challenging footing.
Merry Falls is a combination, 20ft, split falls and cascade.
Xmas Falls is a stairstep falls THAT WE WILL BE CLIMBING. (heh, heh) Requires climbing skills (on wet rock) and confidence.

Wear sturdy shoes with HEAVY tread that WILL get soaked.
We will lunch and dry off at a downstream picnic area at the Laurel Crk Cascades. Bring a campchair to sit in the water. 😉
