We are the Sloth Hiking Group: “We will get there when we get there.” We dare to go where the ‘real’ hike groups don’t !!
John Muir didn’t like the word ‘hike’. “We ought to saunter through them reverently, not 'hike' through them.”

WAITLISTED PEOPLE WILL BE ADDED AS DRIVERS SIGN ON.
I currently have 2 driver(s) (=8)
We suggest open windows while carpooling. Only you know your own health status so judge accordingly if an event may endanger your health or the health of others.
Please bring an extra pair of shoes to avoid bringing your muddy shoes into the driver's car at the end of the hike.
Incessant prattlers will be assumed to be having an affair. My attempts to quiet the prattlers has failed. This has become a ‘social networking’ event.
THIS IS A DOG-PARTICIPANT HIKE. This event is NOT for those who are uncomfortable with the antics of fun-loving dogs. Well trained dogs (you don’t have to yell) can be 'off-leash'. 'On leash' during the cemetery visit. Small (lap)dogs may carpool. Large dogs will drive themselves.
DESCRIPTION;
Remember - hikes led by ‘the Curmudgeon’ tend to have challenging surprises.
Due to recent events, Ouija boards are no longer permitted.
The Cemetery Loop Trail is a pleasant and short footpath which, when combined with the nearby Long Branch Trail offers a quick loop hike into a lesser-visited corner of Pisgah National Forest. Along the way there’s a decent variety of habitats to be seen but, as its name implies, the main attraction is the 19th Century Cemetery which it passes at its far eastern extremity. Named the McCall Cemetery, it is named for the family and descendants of Samuel McCall who settled nearby in the late 1700’s. Many of Samuel’s descendants are buried here, along with a few other families, in a serenely beautiful spot at the base of a low pine covered ridge.
All hikes are at your own risk. You are responsible for your OWN safety and adequate equipment.
