We're back with another virtual HER+Data meetup of 2022 - a lunch time affair on Thursday September 8th @12:30pm IST/GMT. We'll have talks from 2 amazing women who work with data! Join, ask questions and meet other women who love data.
Speakers:
Erin Boehmer, Senior ML Engineer II, Carta
Erin Boehmer is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Carta where she leads the development of platform data and ML products. She began her career with an MS in Data Science from UC Berkeley and BS degrees in Computer Science and Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. Erin loves sampling (with replacement) from the vast buffet of data science problem spaces. Her experience includes building credit scoring models from solar kit data with Fenix Intl in Uganda, visualizing sensor networks with the Air Force, and monitoring state-level Covid data quality to ensure government accountability with the Covid Tracking Project. As much as Erin loves data and coding, she’s a big proponent of “work hard, play hard” and can often be found white water kayaking, sailing, or exhibiting self-control in the aisles of REI.
Erin is going to talk about "Using data science to explore gender and race gaps in equity compensation"
Claire Farrell Software Engineer - Data, Groupon
Claire is a Software Engineer on the Data Engineering team at Groupon, an online marketplace for discounts and deals. Claire's team ingests data from a range of source systems, performs transformations on the data across multiple clusters, and makes it readily available for hundreds of users across the business. Claire studied Business Analytics at undergraduate level in the Technological University of Dublin and completed a Masters in Computer Science in Trinity College Dublin. She has worked as a part of data teams for the past 3 years, previously at Travelport and Oneview. Claire enjoys travel, food and Formula 1 and would say she is good at karting because she beat her brother once.
Claire is going to talk about “Understanding the business and gaining perspective to nurture your own career growth”
