Founding a non-profit legal entity to organize our events

After years of running non-profit events, like meetups and unconferences, on the island of Crete, it is finally time to take the next step and make things official: found an legal non-profit entity to take this all on.

The team behind SoCraTes Crete 2024, in parallel with the preparations for the event itself (in late October this year ;) ), has started working on the statute document (καταστατικό), for a new non-profit legal entity (Σύλλογος).

In this meetup, we will:

- present the reasons why we think creating this new legal entity is a good idea,
- present the current statute document,
- discuss other directions / activities this entity could cover / take on.
