Join up with the Awry Guild for a beginner-friendly, open campaign and hangout!

Always wanted to try D&D but the stars never aligned? You've come to the right place! We'll meet at a public location and play a one-off adventure (no homework required, just a quick-and-easy quest explanation at the beginning of the adventure). We recommend bringing dice and your phone/some technology with internet connection capabilities!

If you already have significant experience with D&D or TTRPGs, you're welcome to check us out as well! Our D&D Night has birthed an adjacent TTRPG community filled with lovely people and a wide variety of TTRPGs played each week.

What can you expect?

  • Someone to walk you through how the night usually goes, the community expectations, and finding the table to play at
  • Character pregens so you don't have to do any homework before you show up
  • A GM for whom bringing on new players is a normal and frequent occurrence
  • A community of players who enjoy the hobby & enjoy welcoming beginners to the space

What Did You Say the Venue was Again?
The pizza place at 642 Baxter Avenue very graciously welcomes us to set up shop in their space each week. They are a part of a franchise with a fairly specific marketing policy, and since we are not an event officially associated with their brand, we respect their marketing department by not advertising them by name. There is, however, only one pizza place—which we will refer to as simply "Baxter" from here on out—at 642 Baxter Avenue and we're confident you'll be able to find it.

Parking
There is both street parking available as well as a free parking garage (no parking validation necessary) located off Baxter Avenue, with an entrance between Carali's Rotisserie Chicken and what used to be Highwire. There is also an E. Broadway entrance to the parking garage.

Provisions! (Food & Drink)
Baxter has food and drink readily available for purchase, largely consisting of pizza and pizza adjacent foods, a soda fountain, and a full bar. As of writing this, the Wednesday special is a $5 Old-Fashioned.

Is there an event fee?
There is no fee to play at this event, and there is no purchase necessary for participation. If you can afford it, plan to be a good patron for Baxter by making some sort of purchase—whether it be a drink or just a snack. And, of course, tip your bartender!

Projected Timeline
6:30 | Arrival, Saying Hello, Finding the Group
6:30-6:50 | Getting Started: often involving introductions between players, explanations of rules and character sheets, and a preview of what the night will look like before taking a quick break.
7-9:30 | Gameplay
9-10 | Session Wrap-up (let your GM know if you need to leave earlier than 9:30 or if you're good with staying longer)

Miscellaneous Notes

  • By default, public No Dice events are 18+ events
  • Meetup's messenger does always not send me notifications, so day-of messages or comments will likely not be seen by me until after the event (the best way to contact me is through Discord, you can follow this link and @cali in the bothering-cali channel: https://discord.gg/6Tv4qHBVvc)
  • Strictly speaking, we don’t typically play D&D 5e or 2024 (GMs run various other TTRPGs) but since the general public thinks all TTRPGs are types of D&D, we advertise as a D&D Night so as to not scare away newcomers with “TTRPG Night”
