Hike Through the Heart of Šumava – Discover Černé & Čertovo Lakes 🌲💧
Join us for an unforgettable day trip to the Šumava Forest, part of the largest continuous forest landscape in Central Europe. Together with the neighboring Bavarian Forest, Šumava forms what’s known as the "Green Roof of Europe" — a land of deep forests, glacial lakes, medieval castles, and untouched wilderness.
Our hike will take us to two of Šumava’s most iconic and mystical sites — the glacial Černé (Black) and Čertovo (Devil’s) Lakes. Nestled among steep forested slopes, these ancient lakes are silent witnesses to the last Ice Age, and their dark waters have long been surrounded by legends and natural beauty.
We'll follow a scenic trail through spruce forests and along panoramic viewpoints, with peaceful stops and spectacular views. You’ll walk in a landscape shaped by time — where postglacial peat bogs, primeval forest remnants, and rare species still survive, making this region one of the true natural gems of Central Europe.
And if you're a history lover, you're in the right place — not far from our trail lies the famous Šumava Castle Trio (Šumavské trojhradí): Velhartice, Kašperk, and Rabí castles, perched like stone sentinels above the forest.
Whether you're drawn by ancient forests, glacial lakes, or the legends of old castles, this hike is the perfect way to explore the soul of Šumava.
