Cragg Prong-Lost Cove Loop Wilson Creek Wilderness Area
Details
Lost Cove Trail head is at the intersection of Roseboro Road and Cragg Prong Creek. 4.8 miles down Roseboro Rd from the BRP.
Ascend 2 miles to Timber Ridge Trail Turn left and and follow it to a primitive trail that drops steeply to Lost Cove Trail and Lost Cove Creek just above Hunt-Fish Falls. Hunt-Fish Falls is a good spot for swimming and cooling off. Then follow Lost Cove Trail/MTS 3 miles along Lost Cove Creek and Cragg Prong Creek back to the trail head.
Total mileage I estimate to be about 6.5 miles and 4-5 hours depending on how long we linger at water falls and swimming holes which are numerous.
I count at least six creek crossings that could be wet. The trails are very difficult and rocky in places. I've hiked this loop many times and it has a little bit of everything except long range views. If you like beautiful woods, streams, waterfalls and swimming holes you'll like this hike. It is supposed to be warm so dress accordingly.
