GPGPU @ Stream HPC
Details
Every 2 months we'll visit a company or institute, who will host the event and provide talks.
The schedule is as follows:
- 16:30 Walk-in, with drinks
- 17:00 Seating
- 17:05 Welcome from the host: Stream HPC
- 17:10 A complex subject dumbed down in 4 minutes: GPGPU
- 17:15-17:45 Talk #1: A GPU-accelerated regex engine
- 17:45-18:00 Networking and drinks
- 18:00-18:30 Talk #2: Micro-optimizing compiler-generated assembly
- 18:30-19:00 Networking, drinks, and pizza!
The icebreaker question of the day will be: What's your favorite GPU trick? Could it be a weird hack to optimize caching? Did you parallelize something that really doesn't seem GPU-amenable? What about that one mathematical thing you did? Or is there some (obscure) tool lying around more people should use? Or do you have a laptop without GPU?
------
This is the first event after a long pause, but we're making sure it will be held every 2 months from now on. January's event and host will be shared with you soon. For March and May, we're contacting organizations we know, but everybody is welcome to contact us, to apply as host. Then we'll restart after summer in September.
Some rules apply. Whatever is done at the meetup, the integrity of the meetup must never be harmed. There is no place for active sales and recruitment, but there is place for a passive version of these: a place to put a poster (A4). So bring your company's A4-posters, but leave your sales-people and recruiters. The host has the advantage to show their environment, and has time to stand in the spotlight. Get in contact if you need templates or more clarity.
