🎨 Busted Canvas Craft Workshop

✨ We’ve got a fun and totally unique craft planned for September! ✨

Don’t be intimidated by this post being a little longer—I just wanted to cover everything so you’ll know exactly what to bring and how to make your project completely your own.

We’ll be creating a busted canvas. While it may look complicated, it’s actually simple and should take about an hour. The best part? No two will ever be the same!

👉 You do not need everything listed under “Embellishments.” Those are just examples to spark ideas—the fun is in making your piece unique!

Many supplies can be found at Dollar Tree or with things you already have at home.

🖌️ Necessary Supplies

Two canvases (same size & shape):

11"×14" stretched canvas (on a frame)

11"×14" canvas board

(You can use smaller/larger sizes or different shapes of both canvases—just make sure they match in size and shape.)

Background material:

Scrapbook paper, patterned tissue, or wrapping paper

Focal image:

5×7 photo, printout, or napkin design (for decoupage)

Paint & extras:

Craft paint (optional: mix with glitter)

OR scrapbook/tissue paper cut to canvas size if you don’t want to paint

Tools:

Scissors

Craft knife/X-Acto knife

Adhesives:

Hot glue gun + glue sticks

Scrapbooking double-sided permanent tape

Decoupage medium/Mod Podge

Application tools:

Paint brushes and/or paint sponge (for paint & Mod Podge)

Helpful extras to bring (if you have them):

Power strips / extension cords (for hot glue guns & hair dryers/heat guns)

Hair dryer or heat gun (for drying paint & Mod Podge)

This is the fun part—where your creativity shines! You can decorate with:

Paper & Prints: scrapbook paper, gift wrap, tissue, wallpaper, contact paper, free printables

Natural Elements: Spanish moss, twigs, rocks, pressed leaves, pinecones

Faux Florals: dried or faux flowers for a soft touch

Ribbons & Bows: elegant accents at the center or edges

3D Embellishments: charms, trinkets, buttons, jewelry, or themed items

Fairy Lights: tucked between canvases or around the edges for a magical glow
