HTGF is the most outstanding example of a successful public–private partnership. With our funds, their investors and our personal commitment, we contribute significantly to the consistent development of the start-up ecosystem in Germany and across Europe.
In our first year (2005) alone, we financed 40 high-tech start-ups – twice as many as there had been in Germany the previous year. To date, our HTGF has successfully launched a total of four funds, financing more than 690 companies, of which more than 160 have been successfully sold or floated on the stock exchange. In addition to seed investments, over 4 billion euros of private funds have flowed into our HTGF portfolio companies through follow-up financing.

Dr. Olaf Joeressen holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and leverages his experience in industrial R&D since 2018 in the Industrial Technology Team of the HTGF. After his Ph.D. in the area of signal processing and semiconductor implementations he worked 15 years for Nokia where he had the privilege to lead the team that developed world’s first Bluetooth Chipset. His name can be found on 22 patent families. His current portfolio demonstrates a clear focus on deep-tech Hardware.

Dr. Gernot Berger is a physicist with a strong affinity for the strategic development of companies. He was co-owner of a start-up company and contributed significantly to its success as sales, marketing and product manager. With his keen sense of market requirements and business development, he helped to establish the invention as a worldwide industry standard in optics manufacturing after the exit.
