AI in Higher Ed Part 3: Addressing Bias, Equity, and Practical Adoption

Details

Continuing the momentum of our AI in Higher Ed series, we’re excited to announce the third installment: Addressing Bias, Equity, and Practical Adoption. This session will focus on some of the most pressing ethical challenges and opportunities associated with AI in academia, including intellectual property, bias, and strategies for adopting AI on a limited budget.

Key areas of discussion will include:

  • Ethics and Equity in AI: How can institutions identify and mitigate bias in AI systems while ensuring intellectual property is respected in a rapidly evolving landscape?
  • AI on a Budget: Practical tips and strategies for institutions with constrained budgets to harness the power of AI without compromising quality or ethics.
  • Institutional Responsibility: What frameworks can guide leaders, educators, and students toward responsible AI adoption that prioritizes transparency and fairness?
  • Human-centered AI: Focus on AI that prioritizes human needs, values, and well-being in the development and deployment of AI systems.

We will be joined by James Stoffel, CIO at Showa Women's Institute acting as moderator, as well as Emily Laird, AI Integration Technologist at the University of Wisconsin-Stout; Frank Hughes, Chief Information Officer at Cape Cod Community College; and Nuno Couto, a founding member of the Meetup group.

Whether you’re navigating the challenges of AI integration, exploring ways to innovate within tight budgets, or simply curious about the ethical implications of AI in education, this session will provide a platform for thought-provoking dialogue and meaningful collaboration.

Save the date and join us as we explore how AI can be leveraged responsibly and equitably to shape the future of higher education.
