Legal & Ethical Responsibility in Higher Ed AI
Details
Artificial intelligence remains an important topic to the Higher Ed community, therefore the Higher Education Technology Professionals Meetup group plans on continuing our AI in Higher Ed series to address the biggest advantages and pitfalls of the technology. Our fourth installment: Legal and Ethical Responsibility in Higher Ed AI, will focus on how law and ethics intersect with AI in academia, including intellectual property, legal responsibility, compliance, and best practices for how to avoid common issues while reaping the benefits.
Key areas of discussion will include:
- Legal Protection: How do organizations protect themselves against illegal use or misuse of AI tools?
- Intellectual Property: What can institutions do to protect intellectual property rights while benefiting from advances in artificial intelligence.
- Ethical Use of AI: How can colleges and universities ensure they are using artificial intelligence ethically and with a human-focused approach?
- Staying Compliant: What are the best ways to stay compliant with regulations around AI use in Higher Ed?
We will be joined by Nuno Couto, co-founder of the Higher Ed Tech Pros Meetup, acting as moderator. We are also proud to announce that Emily Laird, AI Integration Technologist at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and host of the Generative AI 101 Podcast; and Tom Bernardin, Senior Director, Research Computing and Emerging Technology at UMass Amherst, will be joining us as panelists.
Whether you’re exploring the legal challenges of AI integration, researching best practices for staying compliant with regulations, or simply curious about the ethical implications of AI in education, this session will provide a platform for dialogue with your peers and other experts in the industry.
Save the date and join us as we explore how AI can be leveraged responsibly and equitably to shape the future of higher education.
