Etienne Brule park & Humber River Victoria Day hike

Details
Hi friends,
By popular demand we are at last visiting Etienne Brule park and the hike by the Humber River near Old Mill station in the city's west end!
Etienne Brule park is a historically significant piece of land. It was named after Etienne Brule, the first French explorer to venture beyond the St. Lawrence River into Upper Canada (Ontario). The Humber River and its shores along Etienne Brule park were once used as a major trade route by the Aboriginal Peoples of the area. It is a beautiful park stretched out along the Humber River starting near the Old Mill and winding north to the bend in the River around the Baby Point neighbourhood.
We plan to meet directly outside the doors of Old Mill TTC station (the organizer may check in the coming few days if anyone has a better meeting spot to suggest at the park entrance, but this should definitely work).
From here we will walk north through the various parks running alongside the Humber River- Etienne Brule park, past Old Mill Wier, Salmon rocks and ladders, through Magwood park- at the halfway point we may sit down for a little while, before looping back. As always, we move at a fairly comfortable pace, this is not one of those very fast walking groups.
You are welcome to take in the beautiful scenery (I am told its like being entirely out of the city, feeling like countryside to some degree), on this Victoria day holiday which is widely considered the first day of actual Spring (/early summer) in our region.
Wear comfortable shoes, and you may want to bring water and/or a small snack.
There should be restrooms in the park.
Oh, if you are not yet a member for 2025, kindly e-transfer $10 to hsptorontomeetup@gmail.com. Many thanks in advance.
Look forward to walking with you on this long weekend! :)
