Quantum Computing RTP - We're back!

Details
We’re Back for 2025 — and We’re Just Getting Started.
Join us for our first Quantum Computing RTP event of 2025, as we kick off a full year of monthly in-person and online meetups exploring quantum theory, technology, and real-world impact.
This month’s event features:
- Speaker: Jason A. Milne
- Jason is a Technical Product Leader | Data Science + Engineering (PE/PMP). Passionate about Quantum Computing and excellent teacher. Jason is able to speak on introductory and advanced QC topics. We are looking for your interests to guide our speaker series.
Talk Title
QUANTUM COMPUTING ORIGINS: A gentle introduction for general audiences
Abstract
Discover why Nobel laureate Richard Feynman declared that classical computers would never be enough to completely understand the universe. Learn how his revolutionary 1981 insight launched the quantum computing revolution and why these strange machines are already changing drug discovery, cybersecurity, and our understanding of reality itself. Interactive demonstrations and Feynman's own words, explore the exponential wall that classical computers hit and how quantum mechanics offers the only way forward. You'll leave understanding why quantum computers aren't just faster, they think fundamentally differently, working with nature's own computational principles. No physics or advanced technical background required, just curiosity about the future of technology and the ability to accept the weirdness of quantum mechanics.
- Networking with local quantum professionals and enthusiasts
- Pizza and beverages (thanks to your contributions!)
Suggested Contribution: $10
Your contribution helps cover event costs. If you’re able to give more, you’ll help us support students and others who may not be in a position to pay right now.
Everyone is welcome—pay what you can.
📅 Monthly meetups are now scheduled for the rest of 2025. Stay tuned for upcoming topics, speakers, and opportunities to connect.
Quantum Computing RTP is a growing community of researchers, technologists, and quantum-curious professionals exploring the science, systems, and real-world impact of quantum computing.
Based in North Carolina’s Research Triangle, we host in-person and online events featuring invited speakers, expert panels, and networking sessions that bring clarity to breakthroughs and context to quantum computing.
Whether you're advancing the field, building practical applications, or just getting started, you’ll find knowledge, conversation, and community here.
Upcoming Event:
Pizza, networking, and a featured speaker—$10 registration required to cover venue, food, and platform costs. RSVP on Meetup does not reserve your spot.
