Wahkeena Falls / Multnomah Falls Loop Hike (5 Waterfalls)

An idyllic stream twisting through verdant vegetation awaits you down the hillside from the double waterfall known as Wahkeena Falls. Feel your first shower of spring-fed spray as Wahkeena welcomes you to the Gorge with its sweet wet kiss. Remember the thrill of that intimate moment as the kiss will soon evaporate on your trek up a wall of switchbacks.

On your way to Fairy Falls, a stream weaves through a rounded basalt ravine. Triangular in shape, water fans out across the large basalt blocks of Fairy Falls before tumbling into a pool below.

Towards the summit of your journey, you'll encounter a blackened, dead forest, served up extra crispy on a bed of fresh greens. Descend the hillside and enter a charred ravine cut through by a mossy green stream. Spotted black and grey, in an irregular pattern, trees stick up from the ground like a forest of half-burned incense sticks.

Rushing water grows louder as Ecola Falls comes into view. Perhaps feeling a little self-conscious of her lower body, Ecola only reveals her upper portion. You'll have to whisper sweet things into her ear before she'll fully open up to you.

Wherever Ecola frolics, her admirer, Weisendanger Falls, can't be far behind. Say goodbye to the last waterfall you'll see that's less than 500 feet tall.

A dirt trail transitions into a stone staircase that descends to a circular viewing platform at the top of Multnomah Falls. A flood of diamond-like droplets of water hurtle over the edge of what is the second tallest waterfall in the nation.

Down a series of switchbacks, lovely Multnomah keeps you company, first with a misty whisper in your ear, and then as a visual feast. As water falls hundreds of feet, smacking into rocks below, an immense river of spray flows uphill and over the trail. Cross the Benson Bridge directly in front of Multnomah and breathe in its substantial beauty.

**WHERE TO MEET**
We'll meet at the Gateway Transit Center parking garage at 8am (at the NW corner on the ground floor of the parking garage) and carpool from there. Passengers, please pay your driver $5 for gas costs. You can also meet us at the Wahkeena Falls parking lot at 8:35am. No parking passes are required.
