Amazing City Views Night Hike in the SW Hills
Details
As evening attempts to enshroud the city in darkness, an array of colourful lights spring to life and dominate the cityscape. Lights from bridges and buildings alike reflect off an inky black Willamette River as it silently flows through the breadth of Portland.
Wrapped up in a warm coat, you venture out into the night in search of twinkling city lights. First, the bright lights adorning the massive skyscrapers of downtown come into view as you cross the Vista Bridge. After weaving your way through a neighborhood filled with million dollar homes, a spectacular view of the city fills you with wonder as you look out across the prominent peaks of Portland's tallest buildings. You're so close you can almost reach out and touch them.
In the distance, a river of lights flow across the decks of Portland's many bridges, as thousands of commuters journey home.
Before descending down a dark "hidden" staircase, take one last look at the city as streaks of headlights and taillights zip in and out of the Highway 26 tunnel beneath your feet.
As you come down in elevation, remember the thrill of being above the city before saying goodbye to your fellow adventurers. Then, disappear into the night and join that river of lights you saw just moments before.
