ANSWER THE 3 QUESTIONS WHEN SIGNING UP!!!
DO NOT SEND PAYMENT UNTIL I SECURE THE CAMPSITE!!!

The campsites won't be released until July 29th and I will do my best to get one. Until then, this is being listed as a save the date. Your place on the waitlist will guarantee your spot to go with a timestamp. If I get the campsite, I will add hikers based on the waitlist order and campground payment. Please change your RSVP if you change your mind about going. I will verify your RSVP two weeks before the campsite opens. If you have any questions, message me.

Wheeler Peak in Great Basin NP is the second highest Peak in Nevada. I hope to reserve a campsite in Grey Cliffs CG for two nights, August 29th and 30th a departure back home on the 31st. We will carpool at the Cannery West on the 2nd level North side. Each person who rsvp's will pay $6 to attend. This must be paid when RSVP's open. PayPal me at Cupfan61@gmail.com. Use Friends and Family version. If you chose to sign up and then not go, you will lose the $6. You cannot sell your spot to another! There is a maximum of 12 spots!!! THIS IS CAR/TENT CAMPING!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring your own meals and snacks. Sharing is always a good thing though :-) EACH PERSON WILL PAY THEIR DRIVER ENOUGH MONEY FOR THE DRIVE. THIS MAY INCLUDE EXTRA FOR WEAR AND TEAR ON THEIR VEHICLE, NOT JUST GAS. We will need drivers that have room for 3 in each car. If there are not 4 volunteers to drive, I will reduce the going list to the amount we have drivers for. We can take 4 cars maximum, no more! You can't drive yourself up.....get it?
Sharing a tent/ gear is a great idea as to conserve space in your car.

This is a group hike, meaning, we stay together when hiking.

I cannot predict what the weather will be this far ahead. You assume the risk of not going when signing up! Every attempt will be made to refund your $ if the event is cancelled by me for extreme weather. A lite rain is not extreme weather, btw. Excessive heat, snow, forecasted heavy thunderstorms are.

All hikers are welcome to bring a YOGA mat if you want to share a class led by the amazing Angela Shaw!

Here is the itinerary:

August 29th - Meet and carpool at the Cannery West. We can have 4 cars, max. If you have been feeling sick, STAY AT HOME!!!!!!!
A location will be agreed upon for a lunch stop on the way
up. We then drive to GBNP and set up camp.

August 30th : After breakfast we will drive to the TH (10,000') and
assemble for the hike up. The elevation gain is roughly
3,000'. We will summit before noon to avoid any monsoons
in the area. The hike usually takes about 6 or 7 hours. After our descent we will meet back at the CG for dinner and an evening of socializing and the usual shenanagens that ensues. Bring a story to share and a smile!!!

August 31st: After breakfast, everyone will pack up for the trip home.
A stop will be decided upon for lunch on the way back.

What to bring: A tent, sleeping bag, air mattress. Enough food for 2
dinners, 2 breakfasts, lunch at the peak and your snacks for the trip. You will need your daypack with all the usual stuff, which must include a raincoat or poncho!!! I would suggest each person bring enough water for themselves for the 3 days. No water at the CG. There is no shower available, so you may want to consider baby wipes if necessary. There is a vault toilet in our CG. It would be a good idea to bring some TP just in case. The ascent to the peak may be windy and cold. Please bring layers on the hike.
Campfires are allowed, within reason. Wood can be purchased in Baker or on the way up.

Safety is the first priority of our hikes. Therefore, all hikers in our group, including another leader who joins us, will stay behind the leader.
Everyone will stay with the leader.
