Please read the whole hike description.

This is will be a hike with Christmas theme. If you choose to, you may wear anything with Christmas spirit, such as red, green colors, grinch costume, ugly sweater etc. PLEASE MAKE SURE NOTHING COMES IN THE WAY OF HIKING AND MAKE IT A SAFETY HAZARD.

We will meet at Late Night Trailhead and will form carpools for the short drive to Mountain Springs Pass. Carpooling is highly recommended due to limited parking at the trailhead.

If we have enough AWD / 4WDs we can drive to the starting point at the radio tower, otherwise we will hike up to it.

Windy Peak is in the southern portion of Red Rock and we will be taking the back or top route from Mountain Springs Pass trailhead. The hike is 5 miles out-and-back with 1,650 feet of elevation gain. The first 3/4 is trail and the last 1/4 is sandstone class 2 scrambling. The hike is moderately strenuous and the pace is moderate. This is a short, fast hike.

Safety is the first priority of our hikes. Therefore, all hikers in our group, including another leader who joins us, will stay behind the leader and in front of the sweeper.

Group Hiking: Stay with the group behind the leader. If you don’t want to stay with us, you can always go hiking on your own, though it’s not recommended. Don’t run ahead. If you start to get too far behind, shout ahead before you’re out of range for someone to hear you. I always endeavor to keep track of everyone’s progress, but ultimately, it’s your responsibility to communicate what you need.
