Coyote Gulch Backpack
Details
This is a 3 day, 2 night backpacking trip to Coyote Gulch near Escalante, UT.
Preliminary Itinerary:
Leave early Friday morning, April 10th, or Thursday evening, the 9th, and drive to trailhead. We'll need to stop at the Interagency office in Escalante first. And we'll need 4wd vehicle(s) (at least for the last portion of the drive)
Hike in on Friday and find a good campsite
Saturday we can hike to the Stevens Arch on the Escalante River.
Sunday we can explore some more and then hike out and drive home.
The hiking is fairly easy no significant elevation gains or losses. The approach into the Gulch requires a steep descent (and ascent when we leave).
For backpacking you will need:
Backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, portable stove, bowl, spork, water filtration system, food, clothes, wag bags (we have to pack out ALL our waste!) and of course, enough food for the duration. Water is readily available but you must filter.
If you're an experienced backpacker you know the drill, if you have specific questions lmk.
If you're not experienced this is a good beginner trip because the hiking isn't too long or strenuous. If we get a few beginners we can meet beforehand and go over gear, etc.
