Grand Staircase: L 1 Chip (to possibly include Guardian Angel Loop L-1)

Grand Staircase: This route begins at the Calico Basin Parking Lot and travels along a class 3 off-trail scramble route through a beautiful boulder field of red rocks. The beautiful geologic formations make for an exciting hike as we make our way up to the summit. Once at the top, we will enjoy views of the beautiful sandstone rocks.
Once we complete the Grand Staircase hike we will continue on to the Guardian Angel hike (in and out route).
Guardian Angel Pass is a notable hiking trail that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and physical challenge. The trail spans approximately 3.25 miles, with an elevation gain of 436 feet, making it a moderate to difficult hike. The trail is known for its distinctive red sandstone formations, which provide a stark contrast to the surrounding desert landscape. Hikers will also encounter a variety of desert flora and fauna along the trail. The trail's highest point offers panoramic views of the Las Vegas Valley and the surrounding mountains.

- Trekking poles
- Helmet – optional, but they do protect your head in case of a fall or falling debris.
Safety is the first priority of our hikes. Therefore, all hikers in our group, including another leader who joins us, will stay behind the leader and in front of the sweeper.
Group Hiking: Stay with the group behind the leader. If you don’t want to stay with us, you can always go hiking on your own, though it’s not recommended. Don’t run ahead. If you start to get too far behind, shout ahead before you’re out of range for someone to hear you. I always endeavor to keep track of everyone’s progress, but ultimately, it’s your responsibility to communicate what you need.
