RUBY BACKPACK TO LIBERTY LAKE
Details
This is a backpacking trip! You must have experience to be moved from the waitlist. You must also agree to split the cost for the campsite and carpool if you're camping. If you're staying in Elko or elsewhere, you're on your own to do what you want but you're responsible for being at the Trailhead at the correct time or be left behind.
16 hikers are the limit!
The group will meet several times in June to go over gear and general questions. If you can't make the meeting, YOU WILL NOT BE GOING. Please understand that you need to be informed on what you are going to be doing, the route, gear, supplies and general information and forecasts for the hike.
Here's the plan: we meet and leave LV at 6am Thursday July 9th. We carpool to Elko. This is approximately a 7 hour drive. Once we get to Thomas CG we set up camp quickly and head to the Star Hotel for dinner. After that, we head back to Thomas CG and prepare for the next day.
On July 10th, we pack up camp and head to the TH just up the road. We will start the hike at 10 am at the latest. ALL HIKERS MUST BE AT THE LAMOILLE CANYON PARKING BY 9:45am or risk being left behind.
The ascent will be 1800 ish ft over 4.5 miles. We'll pass several lakes and rest areas on the way up. Relax because there are plenty of switchbacks to the saddle. Once there, we descend down to Liberty Lake and find a good campsite for the weekend.
What you will need:
Backpack, tent, sleeping pad and bag, enough food for 3 days. Other essentials we'll discuss at the meetings
