Åhus to Kristianstad Hike - Vattenriketleden

Hey everyone! 👋

Time for a new hike, and this time we're heading to Åhus to walk a beautiful stage of the Vattenriketleden all the way to Kristianstad! This is a very flat route through pine forests, open fields, and wetlands. Expect water views, birdlife, and peaceful scenery throughout.

The hike is about 23 km, mostly on gravel roads, forest paths, and some sandy stretches near the coast. It's not a technically difficult trail, but as always, it's a full-day walk, so come prepared. Bring lunch, snacks, plenty of water, and sun protection.

Meeting point and travel schedule:
We'll meet on the Öresundståg 1028 heading towards Kristianstad. I'll be boarding in Malmö Triangeln and sitting towards the front of the train.

Öresundståg 1028 to Kristianstad C
07:44 - Köpenhamn H
08:18 - Malmö Hyllie
08:21 - Malmö Triangeln
08:27 - Malmö C
08:41 - Lund C
09:33 - Kristianstad C

From Kristianstad, we take Bus 551 to Åhus:
09:55 - Departs Kristianstad C
10:27 - Arrives Åhus Repslageriet

We'll start walking from Åhus around 10:30.

Getting back:
The hike ends at Kristianstad station. Trains back to Malmö/Lund run 2–3 times per hour, so there's plenty of flexibility depending on when we finish and whether people want to grab food in town before heading back.

Coming by car?
Since it's a point-to-point hike, I recommend parking near Kristianstad station and taking bus 551 at 09:55 to Åhus. That way your car will be waiting for you at the end. Parking is available around the station.
