Gårdlösaleden Hike
Details
Hi everyone! 👋
This time we’re doing a shorter hike and heading to Österlen to hike Gårdlösaleden. It's a scenic trail that takes us through the countryside, small forests and historic farmland.
What to expect
We’ll start and end at Smedstorp station, following the Gårdlösaleden trail through the landscape around Gårdlösa. The route passes through open fields, quiet forest sections and parts of the cultural landscape that Österlen is known for.
Along the way we’ll also pass several archaeological sites from the Iron Age, including old burial grounds and stone formations. There are a few good places along the trail where we can stop for a break.
The total distance is around 12 km, so this will be a more relaxed hike compared to some of the longer ones we’ve done before. I expect the hike to take about 4 hours including breaks. Make sure to bring water, snacks and something for lunch.
For those interested, we’ll go to Ystad after the hike to explore the town and have dinner together.
Meeting point and travel schedule
We are taking public transport as usual. We’ll meet on the train heading towards Simrishamn and get off at Smedstorp, where the hike will start.
We'll be on Pågatåg 1713 and sitting towards the front of the train. I'll board the train in Malmö Triangeln.
Here are the times for the bigger stations.
08:51 – Helsingborg C
09:09 – Landskrona
09:34 – Lund C
09:53 – Malmö C
09:56 – Malmö Triangeln

If you are coming from Copenhagen, you can take the train to Malmö Hyllie and change there.
Getting back
After the hike we’ll return to Smedstorp station and take the train back from there. Trains run every hour in the afternoon, so we won’t need to rush.
Coming by car?
If you prefer, you can drive and meet us at the start of the hike at Smedstorp station. There are a few parking spots next to the station.
Let me know if you’re joining or have any questions.
Looking forward to seeing you there! 🥾
