Local "Hike" - Running of the Bulls on July 12th, 2025

Hey Hikers!
Back by popular demand we are going to do the Running of the Bulls in New Orleans once again!
We still have some time to plan the exact meet-up location and will confirm more details closer to time. For newbies the Running of the Bulls in New Orleans is an irreverent version of the same thing in Spain. Only in our case it is a ~2 mile “run” which is not what actually happens since you cannot run properly with a drink in your hand so it is in reality a leisurely stroll. Basically around 7:00 am (since it is so hot that time of year it starts early) all the “runners” receive the blessing and start their walk with drink in hand to eventually arrive back at the starting point.
So what’s the big deal?....well about 5 minutes into the run they cut loose a huge group of mean and ready to rock ladies on roller blades (the bulls) dressed in some incredible costumes to wreck havoc on the runners. They are all equipped with a big plastic baseball bat looking to light up your back side so be prepared! Back at the start there are some options with bands, parties, etc…and it’s a great time…. all be it the one time of the year that if you choose to imbibe you’re feeling no pain by 10:00 am.
De Rigeueur is white pants and shirt with red sash. You do need to buy a ticket and general admission is around $35 with tax, etc...meaning it is about $40...also if you want to blow it all out they have VIP tickets for the after party and the site is www.nolabulls.com.
