The Inner House
Details
A Walk Through the Doors You Haven't Yet Opened
"We are very large, very long houses. It's as if we live in only one or two rooms. Sometimes, out of fear or blindness, we don't open our doors."
- António Lobo Antunes
Each person is a vast inner space, full of divisions — memories, emotions, desires, traumas, possibilities.
However, we only live in a small part of this "building."
We inhabit the most familiar, safest rooms, those we already know well.
The "doors" we don't open represent everything we avoid:
- parts of ourselves that we don't want to see
- old pains that we prefer to keep closed
- skills or desires that we have never explored
- areas of growth that involve risk
"Fear" and "blindness" are precisely the mechanisms that keep us confined — fear of suffering, of change, of losing control; blindness in the sense of a lack of awareness of who we really are.
We are much more than what we experience daily, but we spend a large part of our lives not exploring ourselves.
On this walk, we will reflect and meditate on these different dimensions within ourselves.
