Jonathan Scales Fourchestra Mill Spring Ag Center Grand ReOpening
On March 29th, the historic Mill Spring Agriculture Center will reopen its 500-seat auditorium with a concert featuring renowned musical act the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra.
The 41,000 sq. ft. former schoolhouse is located near the intersection of NC Hwy. 108 and NC Hwy. 9 at 156 Old School Rd. The building was built in the early 1920s, with the auditorium added in the 1950s. The historic landmark continues to have an ever-changing but always community-centered role, and the concert series is to be the first of many events and concerts to come. Tickets are limited and will be sold here, on Eventbrite and on site for $25.
Asheville-based Jonathan Scales Fourchestra will be the first act to play the Mill Spring Agriculture Center in the 500-seat auditorium. The Jonathan Scales Fourchestra has been making waves in the music industry with its unique blend of jazz, classical, and progressive rock peppered with Latin rhythms and soulful outbursts of funk. The band, consisting of electric bassist E’Lon JD, drummer Maison Guidry, and steel pan player Jonathan Scales, has performed in club and festival stages across North America and Europe, with tours of Africa, Southeast and Central Asia as a Cultural Ambassador for the US Department of State.
The band's latest album, "PILLAR," reached #5 on the iTunes Jazz Chart, and they have received recognition for their work, including being selected as a TEDx speaker and winning the Artist Business of the Year award from Minority Enterprise Development Committee in North Carolina. Jonathan Scales Fourchestra has also performed three times as an exceptional guest performer at Victor Wooten's prestigious music camps.
Despite having a fluid lineup of top-notch musicians in the past, the Fourchestra is now a decidedly indivisible band, with Jonathan writing for the trio, not just the pans. Their live shows are known for making even the most jaded listeners forget where they are, as their music veers from in-your-face, jaw-dropping chops and passion to moments of quiet solitude.
Jonathan Scales Fourchestra's music defies a simple description, but it's clear that the band has established itself as a force to be reckoned with on the music scene.
Doors open at 6:30 P.M.
