Furnace Mountain via Blackrock Summit

This is a moderate hike of 7.4 miles, out and back, to the summit of Furnace Mountain via Blackrock. The views from Blackrock and Furnace Mountain are outstanding. We'll pace ourselves because the trail is quite rocky in spots. Let's take advantage of the fall and pray for colors! The trail follows the ridgeline, so there are lots of ups and downs. The hike back from Furnace Mountain when our legs are a bit rubbery can feel strenuous. It's worth it though, hardly ever losing views of the ridges on each side of the trail and very good variety throughout. Meet up at the Blackrock Summit parking area in the South District, Mile 84.8 at 9:00 am.
