Details
Early April is the time to visit Shenandoah River State Park when the bluebell fields emerge for a few weeks. The park is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and has more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline, offering scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. With more than 25 miles of trails, the park is popular for hiking and biking. The Hemlock Hollow, Bluebell, and Overlook Trail Loop is 2.9 miles with a 320' elevation change.
The park is in Warren County, 8 miles south of Front Royal and 15 miles north of Luray. It's off Rt. 340 in Bentonville. Its address is 350 Daughter of Stars Drive, Bentonville, VA. The park charges a $10 per car admission fee, so we will meet up at Limeton Methodist Church on Hwy 340 at 9:30 am to carpool.
