Happy New Year Hikers ! 🥳🥂

With the weather turning coooler, let's start 2026 with a pleasant walk in the Estérel massif this Friday. It's around 11 km with 320 m of climb and will give us beautiful views across the Bay of Cannes to the distant, snow-capped Mercantour. We might even see the first of the mimosa in bloom !

From Théoule-sur-Mer we'll go up to the Col du Trayas, then come back down the GR51 to the remarkable statue of Notre Dame d'Affrique, erected in recognition of the "pieds-noirs" repatriated to France after the Algerian war. The hike finishes with a stroll by the sea along the promenade in Théoule.

You'll need usual winter hiking gear, including good, grippy shoes since parts of the trail, as in most of the Estérel, are steep and stony. And, of course, don't forget a picnic and enough water to drink.

As usual, car sharing requests and offers can be made in the comments section. You can also come by train, the 09:31from Nice Ville (09:59 Antibes, 10:10 Cannes) arrives in Théoule at 10:21 - but please check the times before travelling.
