Details

The weather may heat up, so to allow for lower temperatures away from the mid-day heat, I may change the start time to 30 minutes earlier, so check back the morning of August 9th to verify the start time.
In looking for cooler more favorable conditions I've found a Mt.Tam location where the combination of Pacific Ocean breezes and forest shade combine to make conditions somewhat cooler for summertime hiking.

Join for a 3.0 to 4.5 mile hike with mild hills and ups and downs (relatively speaking) Not a loop hike today, this hike is out and back. For those who love very rigorous exercise hikes this one won't do it for you.
Footing is typical with ruts, roots and other obstructions. If you haven't been walking at least 1.25 miles a day then you'll need to start a walking program before attempting a hike like this.

The actual starting point may be four miles north of Rock Spring where we will reconvene by following my car to the hike starting point. We'll all first meet at Rock Spring to finalize the plan based on how hot it is. This is the plan if we need to avoid high temps.
Please pack a lunch or bring take-out. A bottle or two of water. A hat and use sunscreen, the strong sun we now get is disastrous for skin. Dress to keep cool.
Wearing inappropriate footwear on these rugged trails and fire roads is asking for a sprained ankle. Don't risk it.

I've found a spectacular view, shaded spot, (see photos) for a picnic to relax and eat lunch after the hike. Be sure to join me if you'd like to, it's one of the highlights of the day. So bring a sandwich, pack a lunch and sit back and relax in a most spectacular setting. (I have a couple of portable picnic tables I'll throw in the car for picnic usage.)

Some GPS directions may long route you on Bolinas-Fairfax Rd. This is about ten miles of no more then 20 mph road. From 101 that route will take almost an hour. Normally just getting off 101 and taking the correct route onto Panoramic Hwy takes about thirty-five minutes. So leave more time then you think at first glance.
We are not going to stand around in the hot sun waiting for late comers.
If you are late you will miss the hike.
