Previously we explored west of Shattuck Ave.(back on Feb.18th, 2026) Today we'll explore the east side of Shattuck Ave. in downtown Berkeley.
We'll explore the heritage architecture in downtown, in the area in closer proximity to the UC Campus in Berkeley's Historic Commercial and Cultural Districts. About two miles and flat. (above photo, Berkeley's Italian Renaissance style main post office building, 1914)
Meet at the door of the North Berkeley Senior Center at the northeast corner of Hearst Ave. & MLK Blvd.
We'll go, rain or shine, bring an umbrella.
I find two hour parking on Bonita St., between Virginia and Vine St., then I walk to the Senior Center. This location seems to be a sure thing but you may find parking closer. Watch the parking signs for street cleaning day and times.
