The UC Berkeley, University Baroque Ensemble, focuses on 17th and 18th-century repertoire, using period instruments, including gut strings and Baroque bows. The Ensemble provides period instruments to students and focuses on historical performance practices.
This performance of Venus and the Adonis, will be in collaboration with musicians from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, the oldest Conservatory in the country, founded in 1867.
Venus and the Adonis was composed by John Blow in the 1680s. It is a mythical tale of love and loss, and was the first full length opera written in English.
The performance, David Miller, Director will take place in Hertz Hall, 8:00pm. (Seating is first come, first serve. Arriving early enough we can get seats up front.)
Tickets prices range from, $12. for seniors 65+, $16. full price, students $12., UCB students $5.
