Excelsior Pass

For those of you who have been waiting for "a real hike" this one will certainly satisfy.
8 miles round trip. 3500 feet elevation gain.
At 8:00 AM we will meet at 4950 Reese Hill Rd. Sumas WA to arrange car pooling with those who have forest passes.
From the trailhead on Mt Baker Highway 8 miles east of the town of Glacier we will ascend the switchbacks through the mysterious forest and the herbaceous flower fields to the magnificent views of the pass. If the group so desires we might even do an extra side trip some distance to the west on a trail that heads toward church mountain. Then we will return the way we came. On our drive back we will enjoy a nice leisurely dinner and conversations in a cozy restaurant in Glacier.
The weather is forecasted to be cloudy and nicely temperature moderate.
Be sure to bring adequate water for this hike and if you have trekking poles then this is an excellent opportunity to deploy them. (you can also borrow a pair from your guide. Just message me and let me know.)
After completing this adventure you will be in shape to handle most any hike in the area.
