This is part of my series of leisurely London walks aimed at exploring and getting to know the city better. They are easy, largely flat and shorter in length than my countryside hikes.

This stunning walk follows the banks of the River Thames as it cuts through the heart of London. It takes in numerous landmarks and places of interest; there are so many that it isn't possible to list them all here. We will pass 12 bridges that span the width of the Thames.

Some of the sights you will pass on the walk include:

  • St Paul's Cathedral (a national treasure)
  • Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament)
  • Big Ben (probably the most famous clock in the world)
  • London Eye (the observation wheel that's a symbol of London and which stands 443ft high)
  • Southbank (heart of the city's cultural scene)
  • Royal Festival Hall (London's leading classical music venue)
  • Tate Modern (the famous art gallery where Tom Cruise filmed his stunt for Mission Impossible 6!)
  • HMS Belfast (the ship that is now a museum)
  • Borough Market at London Bridge (one of the city's oldest food markets)
  • Tower of London

and many many bars, cafes, and restaurants.
Once the walk ends at Tower Bridge, feel free to explore the city further. If you are around after sundown, you will be dazzled by the lights of the city and further mesmerised by its charm and beauty.
