Join me on a rocky, off-trail hike to a DPS peak in Joshua Tree. It's about 11 miles RT with 2500' of gain and the major problem appears to be navigation. There's probably some scrambling involved, but since reviews don't go into that it's probably limited.

The high on Sunday is expected to be 82F so I made it a little early. I'll be driving in from 29 Palms and there's an entrance gate that might be staffed. I have a yearly pass so we could carpool in if you don't have one. Let's meet outside the park so everyone has a signal.

If you don't want to get a yearly pass, you could enter from the 10 and Cottonwood Springs Road, where there (most likely) isn't an entrance gate. However, you have to exit from that side too because they might ask for your pass at the northern exit gates. If you're entering from the south, let's meet at the "Pinto Basin Sand Dunes Trailhead", just make sure to leave a comment letting me know you're coming.

You don't have to do these but if I have enough energy I hope to also do Malapai Hill and Negro Hill; those are near the Geology Tour Road.

Bring a headlamp and a puffer just in case, and have at least 3L of water.

As usual, you have to leave a comment too so I know you aren't a bot. And, going on this trip is almost a requirement for my Grand Canyon trip.
