What we’re about
Howdy. MJ here. I'm a Chicago fella now +21yrs in Sydneytown living in the CBD (Central Business District)... NOBODY knows Sydney better than I do, cause she's my girl / my lover... Cool bars. Amazing hikes. Great places to eat. Yup. I know it and love it all.
Let's share it together... Perhaps your style is:
*I like long walks on the beach... "*NO. That's so cliche on Bumble."
*I want to hike 30kms on rugged terrain... "*Nah. Too much."
*I want to do a pub crawl... "*F that. I'm too old."
Or?
"I fancy time in Mother Nature exploring beautiful hikes / walks in Sydney while meeting cool people. I want to check out some new bars and hydrate myself with a wine, beer or cocktail at the finale."
If the final statement suits your style??? Welcome to the group. Let's have some fun. See you soon! MJ

Whilst it is his intention to run each event at the highest possible safety standards ultimately the responsibility for your safety and well being will at all times be up to you. Pack wisely - sunscreen, water, First-Aid supplies, etc... When you RSVP for an event, you declare you are fit, healthy, and able to hike that event. 320 Craft Beers...
100 Ciders & Spirits...
15 Restaurants & Food Trucks...
And Us Degens at 5 Bars. What could possibly go wrong? Well, let's find out.
No doubt this liver-pickling-session will lead to deportations, 3somes and more-somes, streaking thru beer gardens, divorces, and somebody waking up in Queensland with a shaved eyebrow in a used, soiled BDSM bunny suit purchased off Temu.
Excited? If so, follow me to the inner-Wild-Wild-West for some damn good fun in Sydneytown.
THE HIKE.
Nope. Not this time.THE INNER WEST ALE TRAIL.
17 Microbrews lie within a small subsection of Sydney / Marrickville area... let's choose four (read on for a fifth) and have a grand ole time. We meet at Newtown Station and enjoy a relaxed 1km walk: Newtown, a bustling part of Sydney on a Saturday morning... leads to Enmore Rd - plenty of shops and inner-westies to perve on.Pickled Monkey Brewing Co (12pm).
"The newest addition to the Ale Trail ain’t messing about with 24 taps, cool street-side seating and loads of space inside. On site is Italian Gringo kitchen - tuck into tasty antipasto, Roman pizza sandwiches and tacos."Philter Brewing (1:00pm)
"Award-winning beers, brash ‘80s branding and pumping multi-level venue, it’s hard to go past Philter. Once an abandoned yoghurt factory, it’s been converted into a classy, wood-panelled public bar where you can sip a schooner right by their towering brew tanks."Sauce Brewing Co (2:00pm).
"Down a tiny lane you’ll find one of the Trail’s biggest breweries hiding round the corner. Inside its huge warehouse space, you’ll first spot Sauce’s colossal brew tanks, the bar and then the jewel in its crown: a giant beer garden that beckons like an oasis amid Marrickville’s industrial backdrop."Batch (3:00pm).
"Started in 2013, Batch is one of the original Ale Trail-blazers and still one of the best. Driven by their local ethos of ‘We Brew For You’, it’s played a key role in Sydney’s indie brewery boom and given us iconic beers like their Marrickville Pale Ale, Pash The Magic Dragon sour and Elsie the Milk Stout. Inside is a laid-back interior with comfy couches and local art."Let's kick on... After Batch the Sydenham Metro is just steps away - we'll zip on a 10min Metro to Barangaroo then head to my local on the water for a refreshing finish:
Sporting Globe by 4 Pines (430pm).
Sport. Mustic. Sun and sunset on the water. And great beer from a microbrew started at Manly Beach (4 Pines). If you grab my VIP card, I have 20% off all food and drinks - flash it to the bartender. David from Sydney MeetUp (of course, feel free to join his group) - a lovely host - is having his drinks there too. He hosts events with 50, 100, sometimes 200 people. Let's join in.THE DETAILS.

Amazing hikes. Obscene behaviour. Whales. Succulent Food & delicious drinks! How can you not sign up for this series? Here we go.
I love, love, love the sound of this trio of events:
a) Prior Saturday. Bouddi National Park is my favourite hike of 2024 (v1);
b) Prior Sunday. “5 Lands Hike” (Terrigal to Macmasters, v2) is a newbie to me, and it looks beautiful (thanks to Legend Member Frits); and
c) Woy Woy to Patonga Beach Hike & food / drinks at The Boat House Patonga is sooooo unforgettable (v3).In addition is this - the post-Boat House ferry from Patonga to Palm Beach is one of the prettiest ferry rides in all of New South Whales. The bus from Palm Beach heads south to Sydney from there. We can always make a stop at The Newport for more drinks.
THE HIKE. Woy Woy to Patonga Beach & The Boat House (16kms).
This looks like such a lovely coastal hike... Woy Woy. Blackwall. Ettalong Beach. Umina Beach. Pretty Beach... then we climb to one of my favourite spots in the Central Coast. Pearl Caves down to Patonga Beach will provide some of the best views of the 3 Events. Stunnnnnning and all the way to Palm Beach. The climb down is pretty steep, and the food / drinks at The Boat House Patonga will be special.THE OTHER STUFF.
