Hike at Seneca Regional Park

101 Seneca Rd

Beautiful wilderness and winding paths await at Seneca Regional Park. Located on the Fairfax/Loudoun County line and along the Potomac River, Seneca offers a great network of trails through rolling hills and wooded ravines. The park is also bisected by the Potomac Heritage Trail. Distance 6-8 miles. I have not hiked here before so there will be a bit of exploration and higher than usual probability of getting lost. Hikers: Moderate difficulty. A lot of ups and downs. I hike briskly. If you are not in good shape and used to hiking hills, this is not the hike for you. If you are too slow you risk being left behind. Do not sign up unless you are in good shape. Contact me if you have any doubts. I like a brisk pace 3 miles per hour. Not a good hike for newbie or out of shape hikers. Start time. Hike Leaves 9 am sharp. Please be there a few minutes early. Where to Meet: 101 Seneca Road Great Falls, VA 22066. Meet in parking area. Facilities: None. If you are not comfortable peeing in the woods, not a good hike for you. Duration: about 4 hours Scenery: River views, woodland, canal. Trail surface: mostly dirt/muddy when wet Attendance policy. If you sign up, show up. If you are not going to show up, then don’t sign up. No-shows will be noted and may be dropped from future full hikes. Dogs: NO Rain. I hike rain or shine- bring a raincoat of it looks like rain is a possibility. To Bring: Water, snacks, rain gear, sun screen, bug spray. Hiking boots. Traction if you have it. Trail may be muddy/icy.
