Sams Knob

We'll start at the parking lot at the end FS 816 Black Balsam Rd. We'll hike to the top of Sam's knob, we'll backtrack to the Flat Laurel Creek trail. We'll hike down the Flat Laurel Creek Trail to NC 215, we'll turn around and hike back up the Flat Laurel Creek to the parking lot. This hike is Strenuous due to elevation gain. This hike is normally done as a loop with the MST, but the MST is closed when it crosses into Blue Ridge Parkway, NPS land. As usual bring proper hiking gear, water, snacks, and a lunch. We'll stop on the way home for dinner.
