For the carpool. Directions to the I-70 and Woolly Mammoth PnR: Going west out I-70 take exit 259. At the stoplight turn right. Go about ¼ of a mile and turn left and go up the hill. The very large parking lot will be on your left. We’ll meet under the LL sign. I will be there at 8:30. I will leave there at 9:00,
Having a little extra time when I get to Glenwood, I'm going to take exit 121 and do the easy hike up Grizzly Creek. Then I'll go to Chomps for lunch.

In Glenwood, take exit 116 and head left like going to Aspen. The motel will be a few miles up on your left. We will be staying at Cedar Lodge in Glenwood. Our discounted rate is $114 plus tax for two beds/one night. You have to tell them you are with my group to get our discount. 970-945-6579 is the number to call and reserve your room.

After we get settled, you are free 'til 7:00. You could hit the hot springs and/or get together for dinner. There is a Mexican place close by I'm told is good.

For our evening snowshoe, meet in the parking lot at 7:00pm. We'll carpool. Leave the parking lot and turn left. Go just a little ways and turn right and follow the signs to Sunlight. When you get there the road makes a hard left. Park there! The trail goes up the road to the right. You might want to have a headlamp. With good batteries. It's an out-and-back. Go 'til you are half-tired. Then go back to your vehicle.

We will carpool to our snowshoe on Sunday. It's a little over an hour away. We're going to Ashcroft. Drive to Aspen. Exit the roundabout onto Castle Creek Rd. Go eleven miles. There will be parking on the left. If you want, you can tour the small Ghost town on the left. It's $5. Ashcroft Ghost Town - Aspen Historical Society. The snowshoe will go up the main road behind the gate. It's another out-and-back. The group will decide when to return and where to have dinner.

After breakfast on Monday morning, we will meet at the trailhead up to Hanging Lake a little before 9:00. The trailhead is just a few miles east of Glenwood. I think it's exit 125. There is no return ramp from there headed back east. You have to go back west and turn around. You will probably need your spikes but not your snowshoes for this hike.

You will need a permit to go up to Hanging Lake. We will be going up there on Monday. You get your permit here: Hanging Lake Reservations & Hiking Permits - Trail Info & Status

Reserving your room and getting your permit to go up to Hanging Lake are up to you. Get the Hanging Lake permit for 9:00am Monday morning.
You will need snowshoes and spikes for this trip. And, of course, poles are always helpful.
