Directions to the trailhead. The trailhead to Gateway Mesa is off of Highway 86 about midway between Castle Rock and Franktown. The turnoff is south of and a little below the road
The hike: We'll do the Legacy trail and return by Chuck's Loop. I'd rate the hike as moderate. There is one ladder on the Legacy Trail. It is a fun trail with great views to the east.
