New Meetup: In the Creek Hike - water shoes/tevas/water sandals required

Group Organizer
Austin, TX
Announcing a new Meetup for Austin "Crack Of Dawn" Hiking Meetup Group!

What: In the Creek Hike - water shoes/tevas/water sandals required
When: Sunday, July 3, 2011 8:00 AM

Where: Lost Creek Country Club/Golf
2612 Lost Creek Boulevard
Austin, TX 78746

Even though we are starting in the same place, this is a very different hike from the previous week (earlier today as I post this). We will be going mostly down the middle of the stream except where it is too deep or stagnant. For at least half of the hike we will be wading directly in the water, so water sandals or water shoes (Tevas, Keen, Chaco, Merril, etc. all make them). Wear clothing that will allow you to wade in at least two feet of water.

Parking below the bridge - should be lots of room at 8 AM, but if full park just past the golf course entrance on the other side and walk down.

From Mopac South entrance to 360 go past Scottish Woods and take a left onto Lost Creek, it is almost 3 miles through the neighborhood and there is a small access road on the right to go down to the right and below the bridge. If you pass the golf course entrance after the bridge and on the right - turn around and park on the left and walk down.

This is not an official entrance to Barton Creek, but it is certainly a well used one.

Stokie and I will both have footwear that allows us to wade. As always, we will wait if you are late, on your way and call - otherwise we will leave on time. Hike will be at least two hours and as much longer up to a max of four that everyone wants to do.
