Erma Bell Lakes

Details

An 8.1 mile loop. This hike can be a challenge, due to the length and 1,062 ft elevation gain. The hills are mostly gradual, although there are a couple of steep sections, but it's not bad.

This hike includes gorgeous forest glades, several mountain lakes, and a couple of waterfalls.

What to Bring:
Bring water, good shoes/boots, insect repellent (there are several mountain lakes with a healthy mosquito population), and snacks for the trail.

Travel Details:
We'll meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 12th at the South Eugene High School parking lot (the corner of 19th & Patterson). Carpools will leave Eugene shortly after 9 A.M. From there, we'll caravan to the trailhead. The last stretch includes driving gravel logging roads.

Due to the long drive, and the length of the hike, this is an all-day trip. We probably won't get back to town any earlier than 5 or 6 PM.

Fees:
There's a $5 day use fee for each vehicle. Please be prepared to contribute a few dollars toward the fee and gas money.

Total hiking: 8.1 miles
Elevation gain: 1,062 ft
Drive (one way): Approx 2 hours; 77 miles

This hike may be rescheduled or cancelled if severe weather or wildfire activity arises. There's nothing on the radar yet, but conditions can change quickly in the Cascades during the summer months. As the date draws near, I'll continue to monitor conditions and send out updates to the group as needed.
