Cape Perpetua Gwynn Creek loop Or Sutton Creek loop
Details
Note: Due to rain prediction, hike might be changed to Sutton Creek loop. Bring rain gear and change of clithes!!
Hike is shorter, and closer to Florence so drive is less. We can adapt to weather and go to food drinks earlier after short hike if rain too much.
Hello all! Hope people are still out there and interested in hiking!
Note: carpooling from meeting point, I will drive but will need other volunteer drivers too. depending on number coming
SO....I took a break from leading but decided to do a few hikes this spring and summer.
Forewarning, this hike is challenging. Please be prepared for significant elevation gain and distance.
Bring: Good hiking shoes. Water! Food! layers as needed
Hiking the Oregon coast! This hike starts at rge Cape Perpetua visitor center, north of Florence. It goes uphill into the woods along Cooks ridge trail. Then we will stop and rest, have lunch or snacks at a junction. Then turn down Gwyn Creek, mostly downhill to meeting Oregon coast trail. This trail follows the hwy back to the start. I suggest a detour to see the ocean closer, near Thirs well.
Total distance: 6 miles
elevation: 1500 feet (more than Spencer's butte as comparison)
Option to stop at Yachats afterwards for drinks and food.
