See all- Capitol Hill to Memory Grove City Walking LoopUtah State Capital, Salt Lake City, UT
Now that we have extra daylight and the temps are on the upswing, we are starting a new weekly series that combines a little bit of nature and a little bit of city scape. Most Tuesday evenings, we will be hosting a Capitol Hill to Memory Grove walk. The route is about three miles. We will start on the southeast side of the Capitol. Meet at the trailhead kiosk that overlooks Memory Grove. This will be a social outing and a great opportunity to meet new people. The best part is that there are no cars along this route. You may walk as slow or as fast as you want. Dogs and strollers are welcome. Bikers may join at the beginning and leave us in the dust. :)
Depending on group preference this week, and as the spring/summer goes on, we will extend the track a little up City Creek Canyon or into the Capitol or Avenues areas. We may even add more socializing and food afterwards. But, for now, here is a partial link to the route:

We look forward to seeing you on the southeast side of the Capitol on Tuesday evenings!
- Utah High Point Series Part 14: American Fork Twin Peaks (Salt Lake County)Snowbird, UT, Alta, UT
This hike is part of an ongoing series to visit the high point in each of the 29 counties in Utah. For the 14th part of this series, on Saturday, August 2, we will hike Salt Lake County's high point, which is American Fork Twin Peaks on the top of the Snowbird property in Little Cottonwood Canyon. We will do an out-and-back route using the Gad Valley to Red Stack and then across to the Twin Peaks. The route covers 10.3 miles and close to 4100 ft of elevation gain. It also involves a sustained period of class 3 scrambling (better than class 4 coming up from or going down the tram side). Please be prepared to hike the non-scrambling portions of the hike in 30-minute miles on uphill section, 20 to 25 minute miles on downhill sections, and then 45 minute miles on scrambling section. Here is the Alltrails page for the hike: Gad Valley to American Fork Twin Peaks, Utah - 82 Reviews, Map | AllTrails
Please note, if the weather looks questionable for Saturday, August 2, we may substitute in a different area high point or, more likely switch the event to Sunday, August 3.
